On 15th November 2011 Suffolk Business Women celebrated its first year of affiliation with Suffolk Chamber of Commerce with support from Suffolk County Council. To mark the event, celebrated TV personality and acclaimed business women Ruth Badger took centre stage to talk about her experiences of being a woman in business.

With over 70 business women in attendance from all over the county, the room was buzzing with excitement and enthusiasm as Ruth told of her journey to the Apprentice, and beyond. With the emphasis on under-promising and over-delivering, Ruth shared her top tips on how to get what you want in business, and in life.

“Worry about the things you can control and not the things you can’t,” Ruth advised the packed audience at Ravenwood Hall Hotel near Bury St Edmunds. “A woman’s biggest strength is the ability to read situations, so always think about who you are, what you provide and what makes you and your business special.”

With its membership leaping from 70 to over 500 members in the past year, Suffolk Business Women had plenty to celebrate. Following the event, Ruth praised members of Suffolk Business Women’s attitude and enthusiasm.

“The one thing I would say is that they are not a mild group,” she said. “I go around the country talking to women in business and they are very, very proactive here.”
